RE: Concert Experiences

Well, after seeing THE MAN in San Diego on the 14th of August and then again on the 19th in Los Angeles, I can say this much, that the best part was the whole part but I just loved when he sat on the barstool with the back of the stool facing the audience which made him have to sit in the sexiest way to talk to us. He just made himself at home. He made me feel as if I was the only one there. And I'm sure everyone felt as I did. That's the kind of human being he is. At the LA concert, he did 3 encores and each time he would said "I just can't do any mo." The first encore he even asked us "You guys still wanna party?" The crowd just went ballistic. That was the best concert I've ever been to.

Hello everyone, I'm truly at overwhelmed but all the different websites I never knew about until Maxwell's website musze.com finally came up and I went to the message board and one post said to go to yahoo and type in Ascension of Soul... Oh boy am I truly glad I did!! I haven't been able to do my work today for going to all the different sites and joining mailing list... People keep up the good work... Every since my girlfriend told me about MAXWELL I’ve been a diehard fan, and I got tics to see him and I can't wait!!

The most wonderful thing about Maxwell live, was the feeling that he truly loves each and every one of us as much as we love him.

MAXWELL EMPRESSED ME BECAUSE I THOUGHT THAT MOST OF HIS SONGS WERE SLOW THAT HIS SHOW MIGHT BE BOREING. I WAS WRONG WHEN HE STEP OUT ON THAT STAG IN THAT WHITE OUTFIT AND STARTED TO SING I KNEW HE WAS GOING TO MAKE ME A LIAR. HE SOUNDS SO GO LIVE I WOULD PAY TO SEE HIM PERFORM AGAIN.

The time of my life!!! A dream come true!!! The concert at Constitution Hall was so exciting for me. It was my first concert ever in my life, and Maxwell was fabulous. A great entertainer. My two friends once unbelievers, now believers and true fans of his work. One is trying to win tickets for the Richmond concert now. Unbelievable. The light show itself was truly spectacular, it was like something I saw at Disney World. He really out did himself this time. This is something I had been waiting for, for such a long time, I dreamed about it, stayed up towards the early morning trying to win tickets, and it finally happen. I feel so blessed to have been present in such an out of body experience. Maxwell if you read this, please send some backstage passes so I can tell you this face to face. I love you so much and I wish you as many blessings as your heart and soul can handle. Peace & Joy unto you and your marvelous band.

I saw the concert twice in DC (9/5 & 9/6) I was about 30 rows back from stage. I had my binoculars and I was good to go! Couldn't wait! Maxwell came on stage and lit it up! ~Best concert, ever! I couldn't believe how absolutely beautiful he is! He looked great!(note to my girls: you should have seen him!! Hair braided back, skully on, white suit and his arms in that little white T-shirt...wow!) But it's not just about how good he looks - His music, his voice, his vibe - it's all good! He rocked the house! Everybody was feeling Maxwell! He sung just about everything... “This Woman’s Work” “Submerge” “Til the Cops “Whenever Wherever Whatever” “Ascension” ”Luxury: Cococure” “Everwanting” “Know These Things” “Gravity” and “Fortunate”. He joked around w/the audience (he said he used to work at pizza hut, but told us not to laugh "cause a job is a job is a job" (amen). He speaking voice is surprisingly deep (I read somewhere that his nickname in HS was "froggy") He danced (on Sun - he was dancing a little funky, a little crazy (I was a little scared)(smile) but on Mon. he was real smooth and sexy) On both nights he pulled someone from way back in the crowd and gave them a seat in the front row! cool, I thought, particularly since both women were so very un-assuming - they looked like "regular" women. Maxwell could have easily picked the so-called "glamorous-ones"; But instead, he chose to "keep it real". Towards the end of Sunday's show I saw 2 girls walking towards the stage. I thought to myself "hey I wanna go to the stage too, I wanna see Maxwell up close & personal too!) Sooo I started towards the stage too. Somehow I was lucky, real lucky - cause security sent them 2 girls back to their seats - But I was now standing about 5 rows in front of Maxwell! I was mesmerized! Then the security guy let me go all the way to the stage to give Maxwell a little beanie baby (see I had a plan - having something to give Maxwell helped - otherwise I was just like everybody else - after all everybody wants to get to the stage!) Anyway, I was up front and I handed Maxwell the beanie baby he took it from me and said "Thank you, much love", then he kneeled down and took my hand and kissed it!!! I could not believe it!!! It's been more than 3 weeks now, and I am still floating! I was truly fortunate... He illuminated my night that’s for sure!!!

The concert was great. I just love Maxwell. I was very fortunate because I was picked out of the last row of the audience by Maxwell to come and sit in the front. He put a special seat for me right there in front of the stage. It was like a dream come true. I was unfortunate because I thought the concert was over when it wasn't and I left and I missed him sing Fortunate which is my favorite song and the main reason I was there. But even though I missed my favorite song, it was still the greatest experience of my life.

I had the distinct pleasure of attending three Maxwell concerts, but by far the best was the last. It was the last show of his tour so I know and anticipated him turning the show out...which you know he did. The comedian came on and did her thing and had the crowd laughing and whooping it up but in the back of all of our minds was Maxwell. For whatever reason the previous two shows there was a thirty minute to and hour wait between Malenie and Maxwell but for the last show the wait was all of ten minutes. After several minutes of wait we slowly heard the sounds of Embrya over the speakers. And slowly the lights begin to dim as to alert us that soon Maxwell will be here to share his songs with us. The lights completely dimmed and the curtains opened to an all white stage with lava lamps and torn pieces of sheer curtains setting the mood for the perfect show. The band began playing "Everwanting" and we could hear Maxwell's angelic voice yet we couldn't see him. And in a blink of an eye he was on stage and the crowd erupted. He was wearing an all white suit with a little white tank underneath, and a white knitted beanie hat. It didn't take long for him to get comfortable and lose the jacket and the knitted beanie and just sing. After that song he invited all to stand and sing with him "Sumthin Suthin" which of course we did. He delighted the audience by encouraging them to sing the chorus of the song with him [which of course we gladly did]. He continued to sing all of his hits from "Cococure", "Welcome", "Know These Things: Shouldn't You", "This Woman's Work"[which he was close to tears after he finished singing it], "I'm You: You Are Me and We Are You (pt you&me) [of which his background singer came out and they did a little dance routine and they ended it with a "kiss"]. One of the highlights of the show was when he prepared to sing "Whenever Wherever Whatever” he searched through binoculars to pick a girl out of the balcony to bring her to the front [he explained that when he was growing up he could never afford the expensive seats so he knew how it felt to be in the cheap seat so he wanted to "look out" for those people and reward someone with a front row seat] He brought the girl down to the front [while waiting for her to get to the front he sat and conversed with those in the front...sending brilliant smiles all our way[I was in the sixth row...Auraqual tickets] Once she made it to the front he personally song that song "WWW" to her. After that he performed a new song "Gotta Get Know Ya" [cool record I can send you the words to the song if you want] and he said after you get to "know" the girl it will lead you to...."Till The Cops Come Knockin" and "Submerge" and he "ended" the show with "Ascension" of which again he had the crowd rocking and singing along. With thanks all around he said good night and left the stage. The house light did not come up so we knew there was more left in store for us.... after about a five minute wait he reappeared on stage and brought the house down with "Fortunate" [black pants, burgundy leather jacket, and multi colored beanie]...after singing the original version he went on to sing the dance remix of "Fortunate" and had everybody in the crowd dancing and singing along with him. He ended the show by bringing out Magic Johnson [one of the sponsors of the tour] the band, Melanie Comacho, the stagehands, and everyone else included with and in the tour and they all took a bow. The show was amazing and I am sure I might be leaving out a thing or two..but if Maxwell comes your way [btw if he comes to Toronto I will be there] make sure you go get a ticket and experience this for your self firsthand because no words will ever be able to convey all of the feelings it brings out.]  I had the pleasure of enjoying the Sept.11 1999 concert at MSG in NYC...This soft-spoken shy man...Knows exactly how to keep the crowd going ...An he involves the fans into the concert, takes time out to speak to the crowd...and has a cute sense of humor...It was a great experience in my life an if you ever have the chance to see him I would definitely say do it! He is amazing! His voice his movements the band are all excellent you don't want to blink while your there to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

The concert was slammin! Every move that Maxwell made gave my spine shivers. His voice is anointing as well as superb. I would love to meet him one day.

It was one hell of a show. People screamed for more. He did get to see the city too. And he did get to smile at me.

I HAVE NOT BEEN "FORTUNATE" ENOUGH TO HAVE DONE THIS AS OF YET. HOPEFULLY THE FUTURE MIGHT BRING ME 2 MAX.

KAMSWELL, SHRAPNEL99@YAHOO.COM

Titillating. Sensual. Exhilarating. Words to describe how I felt that magical evening. I am completely humbled when I hear Maxwell singing. He is by far one of the greatest R & B artists of all time. Thank you Maxwell for sharing your beautiful gift of song with us, your loving fans.

Maxwell's style has somehow touched me unlike another. Most artist that are new on the scene sound like each other, or they are trying too hard to be like someone who was a musical icon before. However, there are a few to come and not follow the crowd and do their own thing and Maxwell is one of them. Thanks for being different with your style and delivery of music. I hope to see your show soon

Maxwell is just like that.

I wanted to go never got a chance

I must agree with that . Its just so energizing I get that feeling everytime I listen to his music. if ever that I want to get away I just put all three cd's in and let them play listening to him is just like a vacation.

Kamaria, Keeper of His Sultry Soul

It was a truly amazing experience. for one evening, I was able to escape the pressures, worries and inevitable sadness that fill my life everyday. even though I was sitting on the last row in the hall, his music made me feel as if I was up close and personal. It wasn't only Musze himself that made that night unbelievable, but it was also the energy that we, the audience had created. I don't want Maxwell to feel pressured to have to recreate that kind of atmosphere again...it's the music I really wanna hear live.

Manisha Mistry, lovelyjubbly90@hotmail.com,

I WANTED TO THROW MYSELF OFF THE BALCONY ON TO THE STAGE--THE FOLKS AROUND ME WANTED TO HAVE ME COMMITED-OH WELL!! THE CD DID HIM NO JUSTICE IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE!!

Lana

IT WAS THE BEST. I LOVED EVERY MOMENT OF IT. HIS VOICE IS SO SPIRITED. THE SETTING OF THE STAGE MATCH EVERY SONG SO YOU FELT THE MESSAGE OF THE SONG AS HE WAS SINGING. LOVE THE DANCE.WOOOO AND ALSO ENJOY SEEING HIM PERFORM. LIFT YOU UP. BUT THE BEST PART IS WHEN HE SITS DOWN IN THE CHAIR TO TALK TO THE LADIES. AND TO HEAR HIM TALK HE SEEMS TO BE A REAL DOWN TO EARTH MAWELL. HOPE YOU COME BACK TO RICHMOND, HOPE BY THAT TIME I WIN BACK STAGE PASSES (SMILE)
