If I had to introduce Maxwell to someone else I would tell them this....do not be distracted or dismayed by his style of hair or dress, for that is not what makes Maxwell. Maxwell is so much more than the clothes he wears and the way he styles his hair. Too many times when the subject of Maxwell comes up the first response you hear is..."Oooh he's too weird, or why does he dress like that, and why is his hair that way?" The jist of what Maxwell is about, should not be determined by his outer-self because what is most important is what is on the inside. I would then sit them down and ask them to listen first without judging to a song of my choice...most likely "Sumthin' Sumthin' Mellosmooth" or "The Suite Theme". After the songs I would tell them to listen and be aware of the things that is going on in their hearts. For the heart will not lie. I would tell them to listen to his voice and to the words that he speaks. I would tell them do not be confused or afraid of the emotions or feelings they encounter, because Maxwell has that effect on all. And if all else fails I'd tie them down and make them watch my 3-hour Maxwell tape that has all of his videos and the interviews where he talks about love, life, marriage and everything in between. And hopefully after all of this even if they don't like Maxwell, at least they would have a newfound respect for him.

His sound is Neo-Soul. If I were introducing Maxwell to an ole school student, I would describe his music as early Marvin Gaye (“Here My Dear/I Met A Little Girl”) crossed with some late Marvin Gaye (“Distant Lover”) and play Maxwell's Hardrock Live rendition of “TTCCK”. For the new (hip-hop) student I would mix “Matrimony:Maybe You” with a strong hip-hop beat and let the music speak for itself.

Hotep, If I had to make another aware of Maxwell, I would describe him as this: His muse is deep and often too complex to receive at first listen, but I assure you that your spirit will be seduced by his pulling. His voice is like lotion that soothes the soul, sings odes. This man is one who truly understands the power of words. There is no denying him a listen cause once you go there he will take you higher and the journey is long and beautiful: Hotep!!!

I would first of all let them know that Maxwell is a beautiful talented individual. Whom is misunderstood many times in the music industry. Mainly because he hasn't and doesn't conform with the norm. Of what many have come to know and expect about an artist. This is what sets Maxwell's music in a class by itself. Yes he has been compared to D'Angelo, Smokey and even Marvin Gaye. Which is an honor to say the least because of the doors they have opened for future artist like Maxwell to walk through and be inspired by. Maxwell's music is not only inspirational but it's healing as well. Although the man is looked upon by the masses as a sex symbol. He's so much more than that. He's a man with a vision and a message and he tries to share with the masses that he praises and respects Musze [GOD] for what it means to him in all that he does. Although Maxwell is known to be a very shy brother. That let's you know he praises the female gender for all that they are. The strength and wisdom that they possess to help keep the male gender moving on in life. He's not afraid to cry or to express pain. He has been a wake up call to many men letting them know that it's never a crime to express your feminine side. It's not hard to LOVE the woman who you say is special to you. He reeks of love and compassion for all that admire and adore him. With the love and support that his admirers have given him, I can truly say that Maxwell has grown up since his debut cd UHS. I feel that if someone wanted to get in touch with their inner spirit. Regardless to what you are going through in your life. No Maxwell is not the total cure, but he can definitely aid in the easing the pain with his sultry falsetto croons. Maxwell is a fine artist with a vision we think we've seen what he's about. Even though you can't physically touch him, when you want to just open up a magazine that he is appearing in. Doesn't it make you smile or begin to blush before you know it? But he's just getting started...by the time that this man gets finished with you and I, we all will be in a total headspin. That's what I would say to anyone who would ask me about Maxwell. There's no way he could be forgotten as far as I'm concerned.

And speaking of his looks do not be fooled, for he is more than just another pretty face who can hit a note or two. I would tell them that Maxwell's song speak of truth and never-ending love. And finally I would play them some of his music and let him and his messages speak for themselves.

Maxwell is a very deep, thoughtful, and talented individual. His music is inspirational. I appreciate his humility and respect for God. His quiet spirituality is what touches me the most as a Christian. In addition, he is one of those few men who is a real "woman's man" and not a "lady's man" as so many young male artists attempt to be. As a woman's man, he has the ability to touch a woman's soul and essence in his music. His music is romantic, spiritual, mental, and physical ~ ~ qualities that women want in men. I think that is why he's so popular with women. But he isn't overly sugary like some artist (ie. Babyface). His lyrics speak of loving a woman deeply and also feeling "sick and tired" of her at times. This is realistic and normal. There is a balance. But his love for God is what makes him so attractive to me. As A Christian, I feel that a man who loves God is going to know how to love a woman.
As an artist, he is extremely gifted. His music is refreshing. His voice is dreamy. He writes wonderful lyrics.

I guess I would describe Maxwell's Music using a metaphor. His music is best described as Honey and Lemon. Its like honey in that its smooth, sweet, thick, sensual, golden, rich, luxurious, and potent, yet like a lemon it's fresh, like a burst of golden light, awakening and tangy almost alarming. I would describe Maxwell’s music as sugar to my soul. it puts me on a sweet natural high I’m not trying to come down from. Maxwell is music, music is Maxwell. it all comes from within.

Sexy, magnetic, hypnotizing, artistically delicious. The physical Maxwell is my perfect description of an Artist. His sounds are milky-smooth, with just a pinch of sugar to get you hooked. His vocals definitely take you high, as well as low. What depth and range! I can't stress enough how important his music is for the late 90's and going into the millennium, lyrically he makes sense, he is actually saying something to the masses and pours his heart into his art. I am going to Maxwell's concert on the 18th at the Universal Ampitheatre. I told my grandmother I was going, so she wanted to know who Maxwell was. The best description was audio, Grandma was like "hey now!" You made Grandma shake something - YOU GO BOY!

Think of one of those mornings that you awoke spontaneously just because you felt it was time to welcome the world - not because of the screeching sound of your alarm clock or the sounds of your roommates blowdryer echoing in the bathroom. I normally tell people that he is as close to the Perfect Man as they get. I go on to try and explain how anointed he is. He is definitely very easy on the eyes, but his inner beauty is what really counts. He is a true angel and blessing from God. His music sounds like silk (if you could hear silk). You know how good silk feels when you put it on your body, well that's how his music sounds to my ears and it goes off into my soul.
